Natura I - The BIrds

In “The Birds" series, the artist seeks to challenge the chaos currently permeating global perspectives on warfare, economics, and politics. As she navigates through the painting process, she contemplates whether humanity consistently grapples with the same dualistic questions as during the 1960s when the film "The Birds" was released, or even centuries ago. She attributes this dilemma partly to the eras of industrialization and now digitalization and meta (homo futuris), but also ponders whether it is inherent in human nature to perpetually harbor critical and frustrated sentiments toward both majorities and minorities. The artist deliberately refrains from providing definitive answers, opting instead to observe without passing judgment.

Natura I - Heritage

"Heritage" is a collection of pieces inspired by a cultural legacy ‘Crepe beach flowers’ unique to Belgium, not found elsewhere along European or global coastlines. The origins of this tradition are unclear, but it has been passed down through generations since the 1920s. This often results in extensive bargaining, where the most exquisite flowers deserve numerous shells. The specific type of shells commonly sought after varies depending on the location of the flower shop, with straightforward banded wedge shells (Donax vittatus) frequently mentioned due to their (in)accessibility. Viewing ‘the Coast Strip’ from a helicopter perspective, Ide contemplates the economics ingrained in children's minds.

She utilizes the identical crepe paper employed in crafting the vibrant flowers giving them a deeper dimension.

Natura I - Circular Interlink Yi

Utilizing recycled materials, particularly discarded isolations, she fashioned circular bases from her own handcrafted pieces, repurposing waste into new creations. For this, she uses ‘integrated circuits’ used on microchips with multiple interconnected electronic components and indigenous lines as pattern inspiration.
